New Appointment to Clinical Professor or Adjunct Professor
Time Frame to Approval: 6 to 8 months

General Considerations:
- The clinical/adjunct tract is typically chosen by candidates who are primarily committed to clinical service and have modest research, professional service, and teaching of medical trainees.
- Clinical is for all candidates, regardless of terminal degree, in every CCLCM academic department, except Biomedical Engineering and Molecular Medicine. Only those in Biomedical Engineering and Molecular Medicine must choose the Adjunct prefix.
- Must have an established Regional / Midwest reputation (outside of Northeast Ohio or other metropolitan areas where you have worked) and advanced clinical service.
- Must declare a Primary Area of Excellence as either Professional Service (clinical & administrative), Teaching, or Research.
- Most candidates will choose Professional Service (clinical & administrative) because their primary focus is clinical care.
- If you choose Teaching you must have a reputation as an educator and education should be the subject of your publications and presentations. You will NOT be asked to submit a teaching portfolio.
- If you choose Research, you spend the majority of your time conducting research.

- Candidate should describe, in up to 2 pages, professional activities (Teaching, Research and Professional Service), with specifics not usually derived from a bio or CV.
- Should tell a story about your career progression and note your activities.
- Does NOT need to be on letterhead or signed. Do put your name and date at the top and number each page.
- Referee Names (total input: Colleague-10 names)
- Referee letters and the names of who provide them are confidential and cannot be disclosed.
- The CCLCM Faculty Affairs Office and NOT the candidate will solicit the referee letters. If a referee contacts you during the application process, please let them know that all questions must be referred to CCLCM Faculty Affairs Office.
- Your CV and possibly personal statement will be provided to some referees.
- Colleague referees (input 10 names, 4 names from outside of CWRU/CCLCM is preferred)
- CCLCM Faculty Affairs will solicit the referees and needs a total of 5 good colleague letters to move your application forward. If more letters are received, they will be used.
- Are current or former colleagues or supervisors.
- It is preferable, but not required, that colleague referees have an academic appointment and are in a position to evaluate you at your current level.

- This is an entry level rank with no required reputation. Staff with the titles of Clinical Associate, Moonlighter, and Limited Clinical Practitioner must chose this rank only.
